ST.David's Day:

Who is Saint David?
Well, Saint David, or Dewi Sant, as he is known in the Welsh language, is the patron saint of Wales. He was a Celtic monk, abbot and bishop, who lived in the sixth century. During his life, he was the archbishop of Wales, and he was one of many early saints who helped to spread Christianity among the pagan Celtic tribes of western Britain.
St David’s Day falls every year on March 1. This was the date patron saint of Wales, St. David died in 589. It wasn’t until the 18th century though that St David’s Day was declared a national day of celebration in Wales. Saint David is typically depicted holding a dove, and often standing on a hillock. His symbol is the leek. In 2007 Tony Blair rejected calls for St. David’s Day to become a Welsh national holiday, despite a poll saying that 87% of Welsh people wanted a March 1 holiday.

St David's Day is the feast day of St David, celebrated on March 1st every year and this day was declared a national day of celebration within Wales in the 18th century. Very year parades are held in Wales to commemorate St. David, with the largest of these being held in Cardiff.

Typically on St David's day and children take part in school concerts or eisteddfodau, with recitation and singing being the main activities
Many Welsh people wear one or both of the national emblems of Wales on their lapel to celebrate St. David: the daffodil or the leek on this day.

The government

The British government governs the Britain. The term 'the government' can be used to refer to all of the politicians who have been appointed by the monarch to help run government departments or to take on various other special responsibities ,such as managing the activities of parliament.

In the diffenent countries have the different government, some are the single party government and the other are coalition government..
Partly as a result of the electoral system, Britain, unlike much of western Europe, normally has 'single-party government'. In other words, all members of the government belong to the same political party.Traditionally, British politicians have regarded conalition government as a bad idea. The habit of single-party government had helped to establish the tradition known as collective responsibility. That is,every member of the government, however junior, shares the responsibility for ever policy made by the government. This is true even if, as is often the case, he or she did not play any part in making it.Of course, individual government member may hold different opinions, but they are expected to keep these private. By convention, no member of the government can criticize govenment policy in the public. Any member who does so must resign.

the cabinet
In some news we often listen or read the word 'the cabinet',what is  'the cabinet'? The most powerful of these politicians, namely the Prime Minsiter and the other members of the cabinet. Therefore, the leding politicians in the governing party usually become members of the cabinet.

The houses of parliament

 The house of commons

  The house of lords

The parliament consists of "the house of commons" and "the house of lords" in the United Kingdom. The house of commons has more power than the house of lords and decides national policy. Because in the last century the house of lords has lost most of its powers, except to delay and debate decisions made by the house of commons.
In some news paper, we often can look the "first past the post" about the prliament. What is the means of that? when there is a general election, people vote for a person to be the MP for their constituency. the person who has most votes wins, even if they have only one vote more than the next person.
There are have 659 constituencies in the UK. In this number, the England have 529 constituencies, the Scotland have 72 constituencies, the Wales have 40constituencies,the Northern Ireland have 18 constituencies. The constituencies in different places are the different size.

and1 Independent.

Advantages and disadvantages of belonging to the EU

EU is the European Union. The ideal of a united Europe, strong in economic and political institutions, became increasingly attactive to some European ststesmen after the second World War[1939-45].

Now have many united European countries join the EU, but have many other united European countries didn't join the EU. Because it have advantages and disadvantages of belonging to the EU.

Advantages:If your countries join the EU it has a lot of advantages. The work and pensions, studying, healthcare, consumer rights, travel and tourism, right of residence.
For example::If your countries join the EU, you can choose more schools in Europe and you can have the treatment like the people who living in this country. As a result, their experiences give students the better sense of what it means to be a European citizen. In addition, many employers highly value such a period abroad, which increases the students' employability and job prospects.
Their experiences give students a better sense of what it means to be a European citizen. In addition, many employers highly value such a period abroad, which increases the students' employability and job prospects.

Disadvantage:Because the different countries' government have the different economic targets and development direction. Therefore, some other countries didn't want to join the EU.Because their will suitable for their country's toward development ways.

That are the advantages and disadvantages of belonging to the EU.I think some information can help somebody to know the EU.
